
Modifying an Acura Navigation System
If you are an Acura navigation system user, you might be interested in changing the opening screen as many other Acura navigation system users
do not like it.
This navigation system uses an alpine component that runs at SH4 processor with windows CE.
The following steps should be followed to modify the Acura navigation system.
1) Switch on the Acura navigation system after stopping the car.
2) Wait for appearance of the main screen.
3) Press the MAP/GUIDE buttons. Then select MENU and CANCEL buttons at same time and keep them pressed for some time.
4) Wait till the screen appears showing Selected Diagnosis Items of the Acura navigation system.
5) Touch the screen where it shows the Version button, and wait for the version page. Once you get that, type the filename where Filenames are
being loaded.
6) Take out the DVD player that is connected to the Acura navigation system, open the facing plate and get the Acura navigation system DVD
ejected.
7) Shut off the Acura navigation system and the car and then insert the navigation DVD ROM at destined place.
8) When the DVD ROM is opened, you can view the BIN files.
9) After copying all the nine BIN files, select the Dumpnavi program and open it on the PC. Press the browse button to have the boot loader
file. When you get it, go to the copied files and click the bottom browse button and select the bitmap image file that you want as the back
ground. Now click the modify button and copy the file on a blank CD.
10) Insert the Acura navigation system CD back in the player in the trunk, start the car and navigation system and repeat steps 1 till 5. Then
put the copied CD in the player, load the disc and put the navigation CD back.
