
Magellan RoadMate 800: An Introduction
The Magellan Roadmate 760 is the predecessor to the Magellan RoadMate 800.
This Magellan Roadmate 800 does not only carry the features of the predecessor but also is loaded with other many entertaining features. It has
an integrated MP3 player and a picture viewer as well.
This device can not only be used in the car but also when you are off the road. It is provided with rechargeable battery. An important feature
of Magellan Roadmate 760 was text-to-speech functionality that is absent in Magellan RoadMate 800.
Its cost is $ 699.99 that makes it affordable for almost everybody. Magellan RoadMate 800 is available in grey and silver color with a square
flip up antenna.
Provided with a 3.5 inches color touch screen, this Magellan RoadMate 800 has nine function buttons to the right of the display.
These function buttons help you access the main menu, maps, entering commands, zoom in and out functions etc. One of the switches, an eight
way rocker can be used scroll through menus and select the items.
The left side has a USB port and headphone jacket too. To hold a rechargeable lithium ion battery there is a port at the right. The Magellan
RoadMate 800 is provided with other important features too that are enlisted as follows.
1) Voice and text guided driving directions.
2) Multi-destination routing.
3) Automatic rerouting.
4) 12 channel GPS receiver and antenna combination
Detailed maps are downloaded in the hard drive so there is no need to upload any more. To get the 27 European maps that are saved in the hard
drive unlocked, you have to pay $ 199 for that.
A database of more than 6 million POI is also provided. This database is then categorized into 35 groups. The address book can hold 200
entries. The storage capacity of the hard drive is 4.5 GB.
